The Journey began
When I first dipped my toes into the world of resinart almost 6 years ago, I had no idea that it would turn into an adventure filled with creativity, experimentation, and endless possibilities.
It all began on a sunny weekend when my sister-in-law invited me to fill a spot with her friend, last minute I joined her to attend a resinart workshop in a shed! As an artist, I didn’t have high expectations as fluid art hadn’t really appealed to me before. But I thought it would be a bit of fun, plus I needed a new table, so off I went.
Starting Point
We had a lot of fun at the workshop playing with the fluid, then sticky resin. When we picked up our pieces we were each so impressed by the smooth shiny finish, each of us bought our own kits and chose our favourte colours to share, and continue to our new craft at home.
Together we gathered in my outdoor spare room, resinart kits in hand, equipped with a bottle of vino or two of course! We embarked on a journey that would change the way I looked at art forever. We couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty as we’d only had one lesson, after all!
The Learning Curve
That first session wasn’t without its challenges, it was a hot summer day and we were a little over enthusiastic wanting to each make multiple things, together we recalled all the instructions and we learnt a lot with trial and error, especially learning to work quickly in the heat, all in all it was a successful day and we had lots of sticky fun.
Since then I’ve spent hours researching, watching tutorials, and experimenting with different techniques, pigments and products. I learned that patience and persistence were key as I honed my skills and gradually became more confident and mastered the quality of the products and the ideal amounts to apply, below are those creations from our very first session together.
Gift giving and Teaching
As my proficiency in resinart grew, so did my desire to share this captivating craft with others. I started creating resin art pieces as gifts for friends and family, and their genuine appreciation fueled my passion even more. It wasn’t long before I began teaching resinart, sharing the joy of creation with eager students in the comfort of my own home studio.
The Magic of Resinart
One of the most incredible aspects of resin art is its versatility. I found myself creating everything from stunning cheeseboards and functional lazy susans, tabletops to benchtops and even my backsplash each adorned with organic patterns that emerge from nowhere. Each project pushing me to explore new techniques and expand my artistic horizons.
What truly captivated me about resinart was the mesmerizing way patterns seemed to materialize before my eyes. The fluidity of the resin, the interplay of colours, and the depth of the layers combine to create art that is not only visually stunning but also deeply gratifying to create.

As I reflect on my 6-year resin art journey, I’m filled with gratitude for the experiences, lessons, and friendships it has brought into my life.
